Couple from state completes Ultra Race

A couple from Tamenglong district namely Achingliu Kamei, who is serving as an associate professor at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, and her husband Aaron Pamei, who works at Defence Ministry, successfully completed the 100 km Malnad Ultra Race 2022 held in the Western Ghats of South India near Bengaluru (Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka) on November 26 and 27.The couple took part in the competition as members of Group Leaders of Endurers, a Delhi-based running group and finished the two-day race.
Six long-distance runners of the Endurers participated in the Malnad Ultra Race, out of which four completed the course.
Malnad is a tea estate area and Malnad Ultra Race is one of the India's biggest Trail Ultras which is held in the Western Ghats of South India.
It is recognised by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) and is a qualifying event for premier world ultra-races.
The group leaders, Aaron Pamei and Achingliu Kamei, have been running for over a decade.
"To be able to run ultra-distances, you need to train your mind and body and also eat right", said Aaron, while Achingliu shared, "Ultra-running requires a consistent and purposeful way of living.
There is no place for temporary preparations just for one race.
When one wants to complete an ultra-run, one has to dedicate to a specific way of living and continue it for many years" .
