Imphal, November 27 2022:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) celebrated its 17th foundation day at Khoyathong-Tombisana High School, Khoyathong, here, on Sunday.
The celebration began with hoisting of the Association flag with MU School of Engineering dean Prof Rk Hemakumar as chief guest, KSA president Sukham Bidyananda as president and UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Bidyananda acknowledged that KSA has been able to contribute whatever it could for the welfare of society and student community in particular due to constant support of the public and he pledged to sustain its activities for realisation of a welfare society.
While expressing regret that students, who are the future pillars of the society, are forming groups, exhibiting extreme hostility against each and posting videos of violent confrontations on social media, Bidyananda appealed to all concerned not to repeat such acts and further urged student bodies, teachers and guardians to shoulder the responsibility for preventing the same.
Despite launching 'School Fagathansi Mission' by the government with the objective to improve government schools, there are no signs of any significant achievement made through the mission, he claimed and contended that inability to increase students' enrolment in government schools testifies certain flaws in the education system.
Bidyananda also opined that as the government scheme is primarily focusing on contract works instead of achieving the goal of quality education, it is a serious concern for the student community.
As a part of the initiative for welfare of the students, KSA will look into School Fagathansi Mission for which preparation has been made for conducting numerous academic activities, the president maintained.
As a part of the function, KSA candidates who contested in students' union election this year were also felicitated.
Similarly, KSA Jiribam District Council celebrated the foundation day of the students' body at Rk Sanatombi Vidyalaya auditorium, Jiribam and also distributed prizes to winners of the district level quiz competitions conducted earlier.
The foundation day celebration was attended by Jiribam SDO S Indrajit, KSA Jiribam president Ch Achou Singh, JIMWAK president Th Jini Devi and IPSA Jiribam vice president G Ibohal Sharma as presidium members.
