Free eye camp held, spectacles distributed

Imphal, April 21 2023:
Under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO); Imphal West District United Clubs' Organisation (IWDUCO) and Energetic Youth Development Organisation (EYDO) along with National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCN&VI) and NHM, Manipur organised a free eye camp and distributed spectacles at Samurou Keithel on Friday.
Speaking at the camp as chief guest, AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang informed that the free eye camp has been organised with an objective to mitigate some of the problems faced by people having eye detects particularly elderly ones.
Eye defect among the people is increasing in the state, but timely treatment is low, he maintained.
Presided over by IWDUCO president Kh Heramani Khaba, the inaugural function of the eye camp was also attended by CMO Pool Imphal East ophthalmologist Dr L Brainee, PHC Maphou, Kangpokpi ophthalmologist Dr M Monalisha as guests of honour.
In all, 230 people took benefit of the free eye camp, while spectacles were distributed to 135 people free of cost.
It may be noted here that AMUCO managed to ensure operation of 23 people suffering from cataract at JNIMS on April 13 and 20 .
