Governor, CM, others greet on 'Eid-ul-Fitr'

Governor Anusuiya Uikey, chief minister N Biren Singh, ministers, MLAs and others have extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Muslim community on the auspicious and joyous occasion of 'Eid-ul-Fitr'.
In her message, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said, "Preceded by Ramadan, a month long fasting period, Id-ul-Fitr not only spreads the message of peace, brotherhood and universal love but also entreats mankind to perform deeds of positive value to enhance our souls" .
The message associated with this Festival is most relevant in the present tumultuous world, she added.
"While celebrating festivals like Id-ul-Fitr, let us strengthen the feeling of oneness and any ill-will should be either forgotten or forgiven", exhorted the Governor and appealed everyone to remember that human beings inhabit only one planet and the whole world is but a single family and any strife needs to be settled through peaceful means.
"On this auspicious occasion, as beneficiaries of the showers of the love of God, let us all resolve to work together to preserve and propagation the message of peace, friendship and love", the Governor said.
Meanwhile, CM Biren stated that followers of Islam believe that the Holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad during the month of Ramzan, consequently leading to observance of month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting.
'Eid-ul-Fitr' is usually celebrated on the second day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic Calendar, after the sighting of the new moon, by breaking their fast, N Biren said, adding that, the festival celebrated with joy and marked with festivity, is observed by offering prayers at Mosques, eating delicious dishes, doing charity and exchanging gifts with friends and relatives.
"May Allah guide His believers along every path, filling their lives with peace, health and happiness", N Biren wished.
On the other hand, in separate releases, ministers Awangbow Newmai, Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Th Basanta Kumar Singh, MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan and Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata Singh have also extended their warm wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of 'Eid-ul-Fitr'.
Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA), United Committee Manipur (UCM), Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur, All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO), United Meitei Pangal Educational Social Development Organisation, Manipur People's Party, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and Manipur Youth Students' Union (MYSU) also wished the people of Manipur peace and prosperity with the advent of the festival.
