CME programme held

Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, JNIMS today organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on "Medical Ethics and Medico- Legal Issues Amongst Medical Professionals" at the institute's auditorium.
The programme presided by Prof T Rajen, Dean (Academic), JNIMS was attended by JNIMS, MS, Prof Kh Lokeshwar and JNIMS Director, Prof Deben Laishram as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Deben Laishram stressed on the importance of CME for medical professionals.
Pointing out that legal cases may arise if there is complication/problem in medical and autopsy reports of patients, he urged all medical professionals to be alert while treating their patients.
He also elaborated on the need to make medical professionals aware about medico-legal issues and criminal justice.
In the technical session, former Director of RIMS, Prof L Fimate; SAHS, FMT Department, Head, Prof Th Bijoy; and RIMS, FMT Department, Head, Prof Memchoubi Phanjoubam delivered lectures on various topics such as, "unethical acts: with malice towards all", "COPRA and Medical Practice", "Consent in medical practice", "Violence against health care professionals", "Criminal negligence in medical practice", and "Medical records in relation to criminal justice" .
