District administrations observe Civil Services Day

KANGPOKPI: The Indian civil service system is the backbone of the country's administrative functions and the administrators need to redouble efforts to serve public more effectively, said Kangpokpi district deputy commissioner Kengoo Zuringla during the observance of the Civil Services Day, 2023 organised by the district administration at the multipurpose hall of DC office on Friday.
The deputy commissioner said: "At the end of the day, what really matters is dedication and commitment that calls for risk, determined decision and action with which we serve our community and the nation as a whole.
The Civil Services Day gives an opportunity to the civil servants of India to rededicate themselves and renew their commitment to the public service".
DC Zuringla then recalled that Kaikhokam Kipgen (1965 batch) of Haipi village was the first Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Manipur and Christianson Raikhan Chibber (1978 batch) was the first among the women, adding that the total seat allotment of IAS in Manipur is 63, one-third allotted from the state service.
As a part of the observance, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) N Ganesh spoke on the responsibilities of the civil servants, stating that in the service which requires constant motivation, the officers need to take decisions keeping in view whether they are benefiting the poorest of the poor.
According to superintendent of police (SP) Th Vikramjit Singh the service calls for greater responsibility where the civil servants need to perform better with each coming years and the observance of the Civil Services Day reminds them of the objective to uplift the needy people.
The event was also attended by Derick L Khobung, ADC/ADM; James Doujapao Haokip, CEO SH-ADC; sub divisional officers, district level officers, staff of DC office among others.
KAMJONG: The 16th Civil Services Day was observed in Kamjong district on Friday.
Organised by the district administration, the observance was held for two days on April 20 and 21 at the DC Kamjong camp office.
Deputy commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter, superintendent of police P Manjit, CEO/UADC, ADC Kamjong, all SDOs/BDOs, DLOs of Kamjong district and staff members of DC office attended the programme.
On the second day, the attendees listened to the address given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through live video telecast and committed themselves to render administrative services to the society and the general public more effectively.
THOUBAL: Joining the rest of the country, the Thoubal district administration observed the Civil Services Day on Friday at the DC conference hall.
Deputy commissioner A Subhash Singh urged all district level officers to work towards solving issues faced by the common people by using digital services.
He said that using digital services will reduce the corruption menace faced by the cofnmon people, adding that government cannot run without civil servants and "we should feel proud to be part of this service".
The programme was attended by SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam, ADM B Lokeshor Sharma, AC to DC, SDO Thoubal and Lilong and all district level officers of various departments.
