Storm wreaks havoc for second day

Imphal/Moreh/Chandel, April 21 2023:
Manipur experienced a violent storm for the second day on the trot late last night, followed by power outage and destruction of properties at different parts of the State.
There is no report of any human casualty.
At Moreh, different houses and a barrack of Moreh police were damaged by the storm which swept through the State at around 12.30 am.
It is reported that the barrack of Manipur police was badly damaged as a gulmohar tree fell on it.
The tin rooftop of one Veikim Baite (35), w/o Late Paolein Baite of Canan Veng at Moreh Ward no 7 was blown away by the storm which also inflicted severe damage to the house.
There are also reports of electric wires snapping at different places.
The storm also damaged 34 houses and a portion of KK Boarding at Leibi Village.

There are also reports of many houses being damaged by the storm at Tengnoupal District Headquarters and its adjacent areas but the severity of the damage and the number of affected houses couldn't be confirmed as of yet.
The strong wind also left behind a trail of destruction at Chandel and the affected include the community hall of Phunal Sambum Village and several houses.
It is also reported that many houses and two schools were also damaged by the storm at Chakpikarong.
Several structures were also damaged in the Longmai area in Noney district including Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School at Longmai Part III.
Reportedly, the 33-KV power supply line of Noney Dist Headquarters has been cut off since April 19 .
Meanwhile, the Government has provided relief materials to the families who were affected by the wildfire at Chakpikarong recently.
It may be mentioned that many structures including houses were also either blown away or damaged by windstorm in the wee hours of yesterday at Senjam Khunou, Senjam Chaprou, Awang Potsangbam, Kyamgei, Lilong Arapti, Khanarok, Sanjenlok, Morok Ingkhol, Saprou village.
