Imphal, April 21 2023:
The Wangoi unit of National People's Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the remark made by former MLA O Lukhoi, who allegedly termed incumbent Wangoi MLA Kh Loken as a fence-sitter who can neither be considered as ruling nor opposition MLA.
Addressing media persons at Wangoi on Friday, NPP Wangoi secretary Huidrom Dinachandra said that the remark made by O Lukhoi against MLA Loken was very unfortunate and demanded attention of chief minister N Biren on the irresponsible remark.
Unlike in other assembly segments of the state, a former MLA defeated in election has been interfering in the duty of the incumbent Wangoi MLA Kh Loken, he said, adding that the former MLA is interfering even in distribution of rice to the people.
He also said that none of the elected representatives from Wangoi in the past interfered with the incumbent MLAs like O Lukhoi is doing.
Meanwhile, O Lukhoi has clarified that his statement made against MLA Kh Loken during the inaugural function of a community hall at Irom Meijrao Maning Leikai on Thursday, was unintentional and slightly exaggerated from his side.
Speaking to this daily over the phone, Lukhoi explained that during the function he had said that the incumbent Wangoi MLA does not know whether he is in the ruling or the opposition and is hanging in between.
He was speaking of the activities done during his term as the MLA of the constituency and the present work done as vice president of Wangoi BJP unit.
He had not intentionally made any comment against the party of present Wangoi MLA, Lukhoi maintained.
