'Citizens for Justice' forum floated

Imphal, April 21 2023:
A forum, named 'Citizens for Justice', has been formed with Manipur State Human Rights Commission former chairman Khaidem Mani as chairperson.
Speaking to newspersons at the courtroom of Consumers' Club, Old Assembly Road here on Friday, Mani informed that on April 13, a meeting was held at the chamber of advocate Aribam Gautam Sharma attended by legal fraternity, rights activists, doctors and like-minded individuals from different professions.
During the meeting, the 'Citizens for Justice' platform was created.
He further informed that former District and Sessions Judge Noutuneshwari has been appointed as vice chairperson, advocate Aribam Gautam Sharma as convenor and Deben Bachaspatimayum as co-convenor, with eight other core-committee members.
The forum is based on justice and neither anti-government nor an anti-state organisation, he stated.
Mani continued that the state is plagued by numerous issues, many of which are yet to be resolved.
As such, the forum will work towards addressing the issues to ensure good governance and enforcement the rule of law, in addition to spreading awareness and helping to deliver justice to all layers of the society, he conveyed.
Convenor advocate Gautam Sharma stressed the need for delivering true justice to all layers of the society.
This cannot be achieved by mere presence of courts or developing infrastructures.
The forum has been formed to ensure the people are provided with their entitled rights and promote harmony among the communities, he said while urging the support of the government and the people in this regard.
