Imphal, April 21 2023:
Lashing out at former minister/MLA of Wangoi assembly constituency Oinam Lukhoi, who called incumbent MLA Kh "Loken of NPP, an ally of BJP, as fence-sitter, who can neither be considered ruling nor opposition, Loken has demanded apology from the ex-minister while questioning if he is trying to derail the government.
Addressing a press meet at his official residence, Babupara, here, on Friday, MLA Loken said that he and his party NPP are offended by the remark made by the former minister, who had remained as an elected representative of the people for 10 years.
While reminding that NPP is an alliance partner of the NDA both at the Centre and in the state and such statement from the vice-president of BJP Manipur Pradesh is a serious breach of trust, he revealed that considering such outrageous remark, the matter has reached the NPP national president, who enquired about the issue to the party's state leaders.
Further stating that NPP will dissect the statement from a vice-president of BJP in a meeting, which will be co-chaired by NPP national president and state president, and will raise question to BJP, the MLA also stated that NPP will place the matter before BJP national president JP Nadda and state president A Sharda as well.
While clarifying that there is no discord between BJP and NPP and conveying that his party wants a transparent and coordinated alliance if they are to maintain a cordial relationship, Loken maintained that no political party should discriminate against another whether big or small.
Doubting sense of decorum on the part of the former minister, Loken also said that his (Lukhoi) remark is a breach of privilege of a sitting MLA.
He also criticised the former minister for questioning wisdom of the people of Wangoi AC for not electing him in the election.
Though there is no restriction on anybody in taking up any development works, it is unfortunate for a contractor to wear the mask of a politician, Loken said, while adding that he took up road projects in the constituency as the projects were never executed even after getting the work orders in 2017-18 .
