Free eye camp conducted

A free eye camp cum distribution of spectacles was held today at Samurou Keithel in Imphal West District.
The eye camp was jointly organised by Imphal West District United Clubs' Organisation (IWDUCO) and Energetic Youth Development Organisation (EVDO) under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) .
It was held in collaboration with National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur.
The camp was attended by AMUCO president, Pheiroijam Nando Luwang; Kh Heramani Khaba, president IWDUCO; Dr L Brainee, Ophthalmologist, CMO Pool, Imphal East and Dr M Monalisha, Ophthalmologist, PHC Maphou, Kangpokpi as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Pheiroijam Nando Luwang stated that with an aim to provide eye care services and reach out to maximum number of people, free eye camps are being organised in different places across the State under the aegis of AMUCO.
Pointing out that the number of people seeking medical care for eye related problems is very low, he mentioned that eyes are one of the most important organs of the human body and urged all to take proper care of their eyes.
"Early treatment is critically important to prevent some common eye diseases from causing permanent vision loss or blindness", he asserted.
During the camp, around 230 persons were examined for eye related problems and free spectacles were provided to 120 persons.
