Churachandpur, December 23 2022:
Guite Kual Chiefs' Association (GKCA) has expressed gratitude to chief minister N Biren for keeping his promise of amending MCS Rules, 1965 by way of creating one post of MCS Grade-I for additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Guite Kual and posting S Khaikhopau Ngaihte to the post.
In a statement issued Friday, GKCA stated that though the office of ADC Guite Kual was created by the Government of Manipur through a Gazette Order No 337 on January 7, the Association was exasperated that the nomenclature Guite Kual was omitted in the recent government orders of posting.
The term 'Guite Kual' is dear to the general public as it was coined by their ancestors since time immemorial and it encompasses a large area in southern Manipur where different tribes of people, cultures and dialects live together in peace and harmony, it added.
GKCA continued that taking note of this historical fact, the office of ADC Guite Kual was proposed through Vungzagin Valte, the then TA & Hills minister and present Thanlon MLA which was subsequently passed by the state cabinet.
The recognition and endorsement of Guite Kual has instilled among the general public a sense of acceptance and inclusion of tribal history and culture by the Government of Manipur, it said.
GKCA conveyed that Zomi Chiefs' Association had issued an 'Appreciation Note' on the creation of the office of ADC Guite Kual and also appealed to all government and non-governmental entities to uphold Gazette Order No 337, issued on January 7 by the state government.
