Many donate to relief fund, condolences pour in

Several organisations and individuals donated money to the Thambalnu Higher Secondary Study Tour Bus Accident Relief Fund floated by Development Organisation, Andro Kendra (DOAK) to extend monetary assistance to survivors of the accident which occurred at Longsai village in Noney district on December 21 .
In a release, DOAK secretary Hidangmayum Oken informed that Standard College Students' Union along with teaching and non-teaching staff contributed an amount of Rs 26,000; Imphal East PHED AE Y Meghachandra Rs 5000 and Soshim Keishing of Kangpokpi Rs 1500 to the relief fund on December 22.Meanwhile, students' union of Manipur College and the college principal also contributed Rs 80,050 as 1st semester students of NEILIT Akampat donated Rs 3400, MBBS 2022-23 batch of Shija Academy of Health Sciences Rs 22,000, Waikhom Mani Girls' College Students' Union Rs 20,000 and Dhrubatara Multipurpose Co-operative Society Limited, Top Chingtha Cluster, Thambalnu donated Rs 1,00,000 to the relief fund on Friday.
On the other-hand, Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh as well as several other political parties, civil society organisations and student bodies have conveyed deepest condolences over the untimely demise of students, warden and teacher of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, Yairipok in the accident near Longsai village.
While condoling loss of young lives in the accident, RK Imo Singh also announced a relief of Rs 50,000 each to the bereaved families which will be distributed from his monthly salary as a member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
In separate releases, Unemployed Development Organisation; Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee; Manipur People's democratic Front; Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur; Success Education Foundation; Nambol Higher Secondary School; Manipur College Students' Union and Principal; the United Association of Recognized (Private) Schools of Manipur (UARSOM); All Manipur Muslim (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association; Imphal East District United Club Organisation; Meetei Christian Churches Council, Manipur; and Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation condoled the tragic deaths and observed silence at their respective office premises.
Students of Manipur University also took out a silent rally at the university as a mark of respect to the departed souls and conducted a meeting to condole the tragic accident with the attendance of the Vice Chancellor.
