Imphal, December 23 2022:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has decried the Directorate of University and Higher Education for alleged concealing the report of the enquiry that the directorate had conducted in relation with appointment of a teacher at Naorem Birahari (NB) College, Khundrakpam without fulfilling eligibility criteria, even after one year.
Addressing a press meet at its Kwakeithel office premises, here, on Friday, secretary general Mayengbam Somorjit said that DESAM filed a complaint to the education minister against Ningombam Shitaljit, a teacher of NB College, on December 1, 2021 demanding disciplinary action.
Consequently, director of university and higher education put him under suspension and ordered an enquiry on December 23 the same year.
One year has completed since the teacher was suspended and the enquiry initiated.
However, the directorate has failed to disclose the enquiry report or any follow up action to the public.
DESAM submitted written requests for disclosing the enquiry report on multiple occasions to the director/commissioner with similar conveyance made to the education minister on June 20.Despite repeated requests, the directorate is doing nothing, he lamented, while terming the silence as unethical and irresponsible on the part of the directorate.
The secretary general then demanded the directorate to put the enquiry report in public domain at the earliest and warned that DESAM will launch agitation if the directorate continues to maintain its silence.
