Imphal, February 21 2022:
Naga People's Front (NPF), 41-Chandel (ST) area unit has strongly condemned "the baseless allegation levelled by the BJP 41-Chandel Mandal about the unauthorised and violent way of campaigning by NPF".
The allegation put forward by the BJP Mandal that NPF workers used lathi, knives while making an unauthorised campaign on the night of February 19 at Unopat village, Western Valley Area, Chandel is null and void as the NPF workers never participated in such unauthorised campaign, the NPF Chandel Area Unit said in a press release on Monday.
"On the other hand, the BJP 41-Chandel has been using the state machinery and forces to threaten public of Western valley areas.
The state forces came to the villages and fired live rounds towards womenfolk who were enforcing 'Nisha Bandh' for the welfare of society," it alleged.
Stating the state forces injured many of the women, the NPF Chan-del Area Unit condemned the state forces' "attempt to kill the innocent villagers of the Western valley area, especially the women".
The party also strongly condemned the arrest of two innocent civilians by the state forces on the particular night, adding, "We also condemn the state forces coming to the village and removing the posters flags installed at the NPF supporters' private houses".
"We have shreds of evidence - clips and photos of state forces indulging in illegal activities of firing live rounds and tear gases injuring the people of the western valley area, Chandel," it added.
The Unit then requested the Election Commission of India/authorities concerned to look into this matter seriously and asked the BJP 41-Chandel party workers to refrain from using state machinery and forces to suppress the voices of Chandel people, while calling for a free and fair election.
