Imphal, February 21 2022:
Classic FA romped past DMRAO 4-0 and YPHU edged past F4C 2-1 as AIM and AMOFA played out a 1-1 draw in Monday's fixtures of the 63rd CC Meet at Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Y Rohit scored twice in Classic FA's 4-0 thumping of DMRAO in a Group B match.
The Chingmeirong side were dominant from the start but they had to toil for more than 30 minutes to break the opposition's resistance.
It was H Tomba who set the tone for their emphatic victory when he found the opener in the 37th minute.
After the break, Classic FA initially faced stiff challenge just as in the early stages of the first period but the side's persistent efforts proved fruitful as Y Rohit extended his team's lead in the 71st minute with a composed finish.
Then a defensive error in the 76th minute from Y Langamba gifted Classic their third goal before the Chingmeirong squad closed out the game in style with Rohit's second goal in the final seconds of stoppage time.
Ngulgoulal starred as YPHU shrugged off a first - half deficit to overcome F4C 2-1 in their Group D encounter.
F4C led the first period courtesy of a 28th-minute goal from M Manisana.
But YPHU mounted a revival and were level in the 55th minute with Ngulgoulal on target.
The intensity ramped up as both teams went all out to turn the tables on each other but the back-and-forth exchanges continued through the last minute of injury time until Ngulgoulal was on hand in a goalmouth melee to slot home the decider just seconds away from time as YPHU won the game in a thrilling fashion, all thanks to their striker Ngulgoulal.
The day's Group B match between AIM and AMOFA ended in a 1-1 draw.
N Michel put AIM ahead in the 30th minute but AMOFA fought back with a 44th-minute equaliser from H Johnson for the eventual 1-1 result.
The 63rd CC Meet group stage ends on Tuesday (February 22) with Muvanlai Athletics taking on LYCC and WAFA playing KYVO.
