Court decree in N Rohit killing case after polls

Demanding fair trial and justice against the brutal killing of Ningthoujam Rohit, a large number of women from Heirok assembly constituency stormed CJM Thoubal court complex on Monday, thereby forcing court proceeding to be held through video conferencing.
Mention may be made here that student Rohit was killed during an election related firing incident on December 21, 2021 night at Heirok and six people including younger brother of sitting MLA Th Radheshyam were arrested in connection with the case.
Rohit's father Premchandra too was injured in the incident.
Agitation by a large number of women forced the court to skip normal proceeding and held the same through video conferencing and reserved judgement on the case from pronouncing The judgement will be pronounced after the end of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
On learning that the six people who are currently in judicial custody in the connection with the killing will be produced before the court on Monday morning, a large number women from Heirok waited outside the court complex.
As the agitating women spearheaded by JAC against the brutal killing of N Rohit broke open main gate of the court complex and raised slogans in court room demanding punishment of all the accused people, a team of Thoubal police led by SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam arrived and tried to pacify the agitated women.
When authority concerned announced that judgement on the case has been reserved and the same will be pronounced on Tuesday, the infuriated women then closed both the main gate and rear gate of the complex and disallowed the judge to exit from the complex.
While the women were protesting near the gate of the complex, a large number of police personnel managed to push them outside the gate but no untoward incident happened.
With more people from Heirok gathered in front of the main gate of the court complex, no one was allowed to enter or exit from the complex till 4pm.Later, the agitated women returned to their respective homes after the judge informed some representatives of the JAC that all the six accused would not be released on bail and the judgement on the case will be pronounced after the election.
