Imphal, February 21 2022:
The Kabui Union Manipur has appealed to all to vote for those candidates in the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election who will strive earnestly for the welfare of Kabui community in the State.
The Kabui Union in a press release expressed concern that the existence and identity of the Kabui community has been threatened by many forces including communities and organisations with vested interests.
Such acts not only pose a threat to the Kabui community but also to the harmonial relation and co-existence between the Meiteis and Kabuis since time immemorial, it added.
Mentioning Gaan-Ngai festival which is one of the important festivals of the community, the union has alleged that some other community is creating confusion and trying to mislead the people by trying to claim it as their festival.
The union also expressed discontent that the issue of replacing Kabui language with some other language in the recruitment notice of Contract Primary teachers of Major Indian language (MIL) in 2018 has been suppressed by the authorities concerned though the union strongly objected to it.
In view of the aforementioned issues and the continued conspiracies to dampen the strength of Kabuis and their existence, the Kabui Union Manipur urged all Kabuis especially to exercise their voting rights wisely and to vote for those candidates who will work selflessly for the upliftment of Kabui community and to safeguard their identity and integrity.
