Manipur-born Darjeeling MP, Raju Bista has appealed to the public to not trust and vote for a candidate who has no clear identity.
Raju Bista, who is also the BJP national executive spokesperson made the appeal as a star campaigner of 50-Kangpokpi AC BJP candidate, Nemcha Kipgen today during a public meeting held at 10 miles Poudel Basti in Kangpokpi.
It may be mentioned that people of Kangpokpi AC have already been infuriated over the alleged unconstitutional conduct of some candidates, even raising questions over their identity.
The Darjeeling MP during his campaign asked the Gorkha community as to how they should trust and vote for a candidate whose identity is in question.
He also exhorted the huge gathering that they should not be frantic towards such people who can change their identity at their own whim and fancy while adding that true Gorkhas never indulge in such misleading conduct.
He said that BJP is the only political party that will accomplish the long-cherished dream of the Gorkhas, the Gorkhaland in India and as such the Gorkhas must stand firm for the BJP and vote the BJP into power with a record margin.
Interestingly, Kharga Tamang, the long-term rival of Nemcha Kipgen was seen together with her and campaigned for the BJP candidate during the public meeting.
Nemcha Kipgen while addressing the mammoth gathering conveyed her sincere gratitude to the people of Irang area for their continuous support and maintaining their faith in her and the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP woman candidate said that inspired by the vision and ideas of PM Narendra Modi, she had joined the BJP and sincerely followed his footsteps.
"Consider me as the Modi of Kangpokpi as I dedicatedly follow his vision and ideas of inclusive governance and peaceful co-existence", she asserted.
Stating that Kangpokpi is a mini-India where different communities live together and there is no segregation of religions, community, caste, and creed, she urged the people to not accommodate or give space for segregation.
Haokholal Hangshing, caretaker chairman ADC Sadar Hills; BJP Kangpokpi Mandal president, Tingnei Lhouvum; former ADC Sadar Hills councillors BP Vikas Basnet, Sagar Gewali, Milan Pradhan and other prominent Gorkha leaders attended the event.
Later, the Darjeeling MP and Nemcha along with their teams visited the Tamang Buddhist Mahayana and made an offering at the Buddhist temple while the Payul Chyoiling Gumba Association members presented them with traditional Buddhist shawls as a token of love.
