Oinam AC candidates vow proper road connection

With an objective to highlight the visions of candidates and reasons for contesting the election, The People's Chronicle talked with the candidates in fray for the seat of Oinam assembly constituency.
INC candidate Thokchom Ithoibi Devi confided that she is contesting the election so as to improve the deplorable condition of roads and work for empowerment of women and youth, besides ensuring potable water supply to every household, develop sports infrastructure and set up two cold storages for keeping the vegetables grown in the constituency if she wins the election.
Ithoibi also pledged to work for promoting peaceful co-existence of different communities and eradicating drug business from the state.
According to NPP candidate Irengbam Nalini Devi, she is contesting the election to fill up the inadequacies in her underdeveloped constituency and as such will emphasise on construction and repairing of roads and bridges if she elected.
She further assured to shoulder the responsibility of an elected representative towards resolving issues plaguing the state including ILP and AFSPA among others as well as empowering the women.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena candidate Ashem Babu Singh contended that as there is no sign of development for the last twenty years, he decided to contest the election to bring development in the constituency.
Developing proper road, improving education and health sectors will be the main priority if he wins the election, Babu said, while adding that he will work for unity and integrity of Manipur as well.
JD (U) candidate Thingbaijam Swarankumar said he is contesting the election to work for the people sincerely.
Confiding to prioritise development of education sector, he pointed out that many government schools in the constituency have disappeared.
So, infrastructure of government school will be developed to ensure every child gets free education.
He also expressed keen desire to amend MLR and LR Act so that every indigenes can reside in any place in the state.
This will ensure peace and harmony in the state, he opined.
RPI (A) candidate Laitonjam Brojen said that he is contesting the election as there is no capable leader who could develop the two national highways of the state even after 75 years of independence.
He assured of developing the deplorable roads in the constituency, providing potable water in every household and improving health sector.
Empowering women and youth, enhancing economy of the state by identifying the resources and developing the tourism sector are his primary visions for the state if elected, Brojen shared.
Independent candidate Ngangom Shivakumar informed that he is only 27 years old and the main reason behind his decision of contesting the election is to solve the issues of the people living in the constituency particularly the youth.
He will also focus on development of education and health sector.
Stating that having two land laws has divided the state into two, he wished to change such law and also to solve other pending issues of the state including border issue.
BJP candidate Laishram Radhakishore could not be contacted despite several attempts.
