Imphal, December 01 2021:
Frequent visits of BJP leaders and union ministers have put a dent in the state exchequer in meeting the expenses of transportation and accommodation cost, said Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nameirakpam Loken.
He was speaking at the reception function of social worker Md Altaf Hussain of Mayang Imphal assembly constituency and 33 of his close associates, who have joined Indian National Congress, held at Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday.
Former chief minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi, AICC CWC member and former deputy chief minister Gaikhangam, AICC Manipur in-charge and former union minister Bhakta Charan Das, MPCC working president I Hemochandra, MPCC vice-president (administration) and ex-MIA of Mayang Imphal AC Dr Kh Ratankumar also attended the reception function.
Speaking at the event, MIA N Loken asserted that Congress party is well aware of the reason for monthly visit of BJP national president JP Nadda.
Nadda knows that the chances of BJP returning to power in 2022 state assembly election is bleak and this is the reason for his frequent visits.
At the same time, frequent visits of BJP leaders and union ministers in the last four and half years have been draining state's exchequer consequently bringing the stateto an overdraft situation.
However, the BJP government, its leaders and ministers should know that they cannot fool the public all the time.
The public are well aware and sensitive.
They know what the coalition government of five parties has or has not done during the current term.
All the visiting union ministers never brought any project rather than praising the Biren government.
As a result, the public will give their mandate in 2022 election and BJP government will not return to power in the state after February in 2022 and at the Centre after the 2024 Lok Sabha election, he said.
Congress leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru and Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad played major roles in the independence movement against the British colonial rule.
However, no BJP leaders have done anything in the larger interest of the public till date.
In the last 13 years of BJP rule in the country, no public welfare schemes were taken up.
National Food Security Act and MGNREGS are schemes introduced and implemented by UPA government.
Besides, there are several schemes for the welfare of the public introduced by Congress government.
Instead of carrying out such welfare programmes, the BJP government is trying to fool the public with its lies.
The government is issuing recruitment notification when the election code of conduct is just a month away just to collect huge sum of money from the job aspirants.
On the other hand, panellists in some media discussion programmes could be heard saying that Congress is experiencing a setback and not functioning to its full capacity as the opposition.
However, the perception is not true since Congress always brings up the mistakes of the government from time to time but the government has no honour of such criticism from the opposition.
As such, the party came down to the grassroots level to let the public aware of the real picture instead of shouting in vain, he added.
