Imphal, December 01 2021:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) in association with local clubs/organisations are continuing to carry out drives in houses rented out to non-Manipuris to verify if they have the requisite ILP pass and its validity, Committee co-convenor publicity in-Charge Wareppam Second has stated.
On Wednesday, JCILPS collaborated with Rising Knowledge Club, Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba Mapal and conducted a verification of non-Manipuris staying in rented houses falling under the Club's jurisdiction from 8am to 11am.In all, 96 non-Manipuris responded to the drive conducted in the locality.
Of the 96 non-Manipuris, 30 were found without any ILP passes or with invalid passes.
Only six were found possessing valid passes, while 68 were in the process of obtaining the permit, possessing a token each for the same.
Urging owners of the rented houses to check the non-Manipuris who avoided the verification on Wednesday, Wareppam Second further urged the owners to encourage their tenants to possess the passes, while denying accommodation to those without one.
"JCILPS has already conveyed this through the media and as such, owners of the rented houses should try to avoid all inconveniences by December 5.The Committee had taken up the initiative to encourage concerted efforts to save the indigenous people of the state, as the government alone cannot save the indigenes," he said.
