Imphal, December 01 2021:
NH-37 Affected Land Owners' Association (NALOA) said that its agitation will continue till the compensation for land owners affected by widening of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road is given even though the two-day bandh called on November 29 and 30 ended peacefully.
According to a statement of NALOA, government's forcible eviction of shops and business units from both sides of NH-37 by giving only four days' time with heavy security deployment was unjustified and such acts should never be repeated.
While extending its sincere appreciation to bandh supporters, the association said that the affected land owners and people residing on both sides of NH-37 (3.27 tol7km) will not extend support to widening of the road.
It also warned that government should be responsible for any untoward incident that occurs during the road widening work.
The association will start providing assistance to families whose shops and business units were destroyed during eviction if the government fails to extend help within 10 days, the statement said and strongly condemned the government for not providing compensation to the owners of the affected houses and business units.
