Thoubal, December 01 2021:
The present BJP-led coalition government repeatedly claims of improvement in law-and-order situation in the state during its tenure but why is the government extending 'Disturbed Area' status, former chief minister and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader O Ibobi Singh asked the government.
Addressing a gathering at a political conference organised by Lilong Block Congress Committee at Lilong Sambrukhong on Wednesday, O Ibobi said that he had launched various welfare programmes for Muslim community while he was the chief minister but the present coalition government led by chief minister N Biren has kept intact the programmes.
Displeased over foundation stone laying programmes being initiated by the present government at far flung areas, O Ibobi asked the government to construct one new hospital in the hills if it really has the guts to do so.
The previous Congress government created new districts to facilitate development programmes and projects in the hill areas of the state but the present government is still unable to complete and inaugurate projects initiated by the past government, O Ibobi said and asked the Biren-led government to name a single project in the hills implemented during its tenure.
According to O Ibobi, leader's of the present coalition government praise their own government and are not shameful of glorifying the same government but it is the people who have to decide whether the government is good or bad.
People would never honour if the mandate of the people keeps changing time and again, he said, adding that only Congress government could bring inclusive development in the state.
He also said that former MLA of Lilong was unable to deal with people effectively and hence development programmes could not be taken up in the constituency.
In his speech at the political conference, intending Congress candidate in Lilong AC Syed Anwar Hussain promised to solve drinking water problem faced by people of Lilong AC if elected in the upcoming election.
He also promised to bring all round development in Lilong if he becomes the representative of the people.
During the political conference, Mk Habibur alias Bony, who provided ambulance service free of cost during COVID-19 pandemic and two players who brought laurels for the state were honoured with simple gifts.
The political conference was also attended by MPCC president and Nambol MLA N Loken Singh, AICC CWC member Gaikhangam, DCC Thoubal president N Lukhoi Singh and Lilong Block Congress Committee president Md Emamuddin.
