Minister rules out service extension in Education Dept

Education minister S Rajen Singh has said that there is no room for service extension of employees in the education department.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of a 2-day state level workshop on "Assessment and Accreditation of Colleges" held at DM College of Teacher Education, Imphal, on Wednesday, minister Rajen explained that extension of service for the government employees has being discouraging and demoralising junior employees of the department.
Many eligible government employees who can be promoted to a superior post are simply suppressed by such system of service extension.
The system is in practice in many government departments in the state which is not recommendable, he added.
The minister said that colleges in the state are still not excelling in NAAC scoring and are lagging behind in that regard.
There have been sensitisation and awareness programmes conducted in colleges (government and aided) of the state regarding NAAC score.
This campaign will continue, he informed.
Rajen further Said that NEP, 2020 has brought a new dimension in education sector in the country, adding that the sfate.has also constituted state level task force and sub-task force headed by responsible officers of the education department for successful implementation of NEP.
Minister Rajen also advised the college authorities to keep college campuses neat and clean.
Teaching and non-teaching staff should be punctual and work with sincerity.
There is need for working together with cooperation and understanding.
The government is committed to address the grievances of the employees of the education department, he added.
Presided over by commissioner (Hr & Tech Education) M Harekrishna, the inaugural function was also attended by director (University & Hr Education) Dr Rangitabali Waikhom and NAAC Bengaluru assistant advisor Dr Priya Narayanan as guests of honour.
