Darjeeling MP Raju Bista questions identity of JD-U nominee

Manipur-born Member of Parliament from Darjeeling, Raju Bista, who is also the BJP national executive spokesperson, has told Kangpokpi AC voters not to trust candidate who has no clear identity or who changes his identity purportedly to win election with sympathy vote.
The star campaigner for BJP candidate of Kangpokpi AC made the statement during a public meeting held at Poudel Basti on Monday.
It may be recalled that Kangpokpi AC BJP candidate's rival Soshim Gurung, nominated by the Janata Dal-United, had filed his nomination for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election as Soshim Keishing, as a Scheduled Tribe candidate, but filed his nomination for the ensuing Assembly Election as Soshim Gurung as a general candidate.
Taking a dig at the conduct of Soshim Gurung, the Darjeeling MP asked the Gorkha community as to how they should trust and vote for such a candidate whose identity is in question.
He also exhorted the gathering not to be sympathetic towards such people Who can change his identity at will for the true Gorkhas never indulge in such misleading conduct.
Raju Bista then said that BJP is the only political party which will accomplish the long-cherished dream of the Gorkhas, the Gorkhaland in India, adding that the Gorkhas must stand firm in unity for the BJP and vote the BJP into power by a record margin.
The public meeting was also attended by BJP candidate Nemcha Kipgen, ADC Sadar Hills caretaker chairman Haokholal Hangshing, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal president Tingnei Lhouvum, ADC Sadar Hills former councillors BP VikasJ?asnet, Sagar Gewali and Milan Pradhan, apart from Gorkhas from Irang Part-I and II.
Interestingly, Kharga Tamang, the long-term rival of Nemcha Kipgen was seen together with her and campaigned for the BJP candidate during the public meeting.
Nemcha conveyed her sincere gratitude to the people of Irahg area for their continuous support and keeping their faith in her and the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP candidate said that she had joined BJP as she got inspired by the vision and ideas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Consider me as the Modi of Kangpokpi as I dedicatedly follow his vision and ideas of inclusive governance and peaceful co-existence", asserted Nemcha Kipgen.
Later, after the Poudel Basti public meeting, the Darjeeling MP and the BJP candidate along with their teams visited Parsianbasti, Kalapahar and other places where they campaigned for the BJP candidate.
