Imphal, November 07 2015 :
All Manipur United Culub's Organisation (AMUCO), United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Committee of Civil Societies, Kangleipak (CCSK) held a one day discussion on "People's movement for the common future of Manipur" at Young Progressive and Athletic Club, Keisamthong Elangbam Leikai, Imphal.
Speaking at the programme, AMUCO advisor KT Rehman said that now is the time for the people of Manipur to stand united so that Manipur's territorial integrity can be saved.
Recalling efforts to break the integrity of Manipur in the past, KT Rehman said, "If Hijam Irabot could stand against the formation of Purbanchal State, why can't we stand against the Naga Peace Accord which was likely to break Manipur" .
Hills and valley together formed Manipur and it can never be separated, asserted Rehman.
"Why Muivah, who was born in Ukhrul District of Manipur, has been trying to bring all the Naga inhabited under separate entity, asked the AMUCO advisor and recalled that Yangmaso Shaija and Rishang Keishing, who were from Ukhrul, became Chief Ministers and ruled Manipur for many years.
KT Rehman further alleged that NSCN (IM) has been "continuing its crimes even though the armed outfit has entered into peace talk with the Government of India." Rehman called upon all the people from both hills and valley to remain alert as the outcome of the Naga peace talk is yet to be known.
CCSK President Telheiba said that Government of India and NSCN (IM) entered into peace talk after the latter was told that India will listen to their demands only when NSCN (IM) leaves behind the demand for sovereignty and talk under the framework of the Indian Constitution.
Now, the Government of India has to give something to Muivah to "appease him", he said.
