Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Commissioner of Commerce and Industries of Government of Manipur today met North East students communities at the conference hall of Manipur Bhawan at Sardar Patel Marg to discuss about employment generation potential in textiles sectors like handloom, handicrafts and sericulture, promotion of local products and fabrics by organizing beauty pageant, encouraging participation of youths in tak-ing up entrepreneurial activi- ties on Make in India-Make in North East-Make in Manipur for employment generation.
He said the Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur under the aegis of the Exhibi- tion Committee of Sangai Festival had entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Miss India orga- nizers on October 31 this year to hold the Sangai Princess contest on November 17, 2015 on Manipur Day of India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi as a precursor of Sangai Queen and Campus Princess for Miss India North East to be held at Imphal on November 27 and 28, 2015 during the Sangai Festival.
"The contestants for Sangai Princess shall be residents of National Capital Region having domiciles of North Eastern States.
There is no height restrictions.
Non-college, married, widowed, single, unmarried and everyone whose age is less than 25 years can participate in the beauty pageant.
Top finalists will get direct entry into Sangai Queen in Imphal", he informed.
The last date for submission of online application for the said pageant is on November 14, 2015 at the websites www.scimanipur.gov.in, www.highereducationmanipur.gov.in and www.manipuruniv.ac.in.
He said that grooming and screening will take place at India International Youth Centre at Chanakyapuri on November 15 and 16 followed by a fashion show at 6pm at Hamsadhwani Theatre, IITF, Pragati Maidan on November 17, 2015 .
Spice Production House will take on the task of grooming and screening as well as judging the contestants along with with the celebrities like Rakshitha Harimurthy, Miss India 2015 top 10 finalist; Rewati Chetri, Miss India 2015 top 10 finalist; Anchal Jain, Fashion Model, Miss India Diva, Delhi; Jayanta Ray, Talent partner for Miss India, NE Kolkata; Dipankar Kashyap, choreographer and Chowpuran Gogoi, Fashion Stylist.
"Sangai Queen contest will be held on November 27 at Imphal in Manipur as part of the annual international Sangai Festival for contestants domiciles of North Eastern States residing anywhere in India.
Winners will get an entry into the Bollywood glamour world and music album.
Dress code will be either black or red colour, a cocktail dress with stilettos.
There will be an entry fee of Rs 3,000 per contestant," Vivek Kumar said.
The grooming and screening for Sangai Queen will be held at Imphal from November 22 to 25 .
Stephanie Lohale, Miss India Worldwide, 2015; Supriya Aiman, Miss India International, 2015; Sachin Gupta, music director, Bosco Caesar, choreographer; Shie Lobo, stylist and Deepak Ramrakhiani, National Director, Miss India Worldwide will take part in the grooming and screening of the contestants of Sangai Queen, he added.
