Tribal student bodies appeal on lifting of ban on schools

Hmar Students' Association Jiribam Unit (HSAJU); Zeliangrong Student Union Jiribam Area (ZSUJA); Kuki Student Organisation (KSO-J/T) and Young Paite Association (YPA), Jiribam appealed all to immediately revoke the ban imposed on Jiribam Model High School (JMHS) and Blooming Flower Children's Foundation School (BFCFS) in the interest of students.
In a statement, the bodies said that All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU); Democratic Students Association Manipur (DESAM); Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) and Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) Jiribam units had banned JMHS and BFCFS on the allegation the schools were closed on schools for two days.
They clarified the schools closed due to the condolence bandh called was observed by Joint Action Committee for the Protection of Tribal and Minority Peoples' Right (JAC, PTMPRJ) on November 4 and November 5 like other schools and shops run by tribal communities.
The joint student tribal bodies urged AMSU, DESAM, MSF and KSA Jiribam units to immediately revoke the ban imposed in the two schools to facilitate the preparation for final examinations in the interest of the student community and to create mutual understanding among the different communities living in Jiribam.
