Imphal, November 03 2014:
Television & Cine Foundation (TC Foundation), Manipur will organise a Film Convention on November 9 at MFDC complex from 11.30 am in connection with the Centre's aim to establish the 3rd Film & Television Institute of India in one of the 8 Northeastern States, a statement issued by TC Foundation's general secretary conveyed.
The Convention would deliberate on pursuance for securing the establishment of the Premier Film & Television Institute in Manipur.
The decision to hold the Convention with its single agenda as "Establish National Film & Television Institute in Manipur" was adopted during an emergency executive meeting of the Television & Cine Foundation, attended by the State's eminent filmmakers, film critics, senior film actors and technicians alongside TC Foundation's chief advisors, Aribam Syam Sharma and RK Bidur, it added.
The meeting unanimously decided that the Convention is critical, to make the Government of India take a judicious decision, based on merits, while deciding which State will be awarded the 3rd National Film & Television Institute and not to yield to political pressures exerted by the States to grab the premier institute in their favour.
Out of 8 States in the region, the race would be between Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
