Vigilance Awareness Week held

Vigilance Awareness Week on the theme 'Combating Corruption: Technology as an enabler' was held at Hotel Classic,North AOC organised by the State Vigilance Commission today.
The function was graced by Vigilance Commissioner and Chief Secretary PC Lamkunga, Director of Prosecution Ngangom Tejkumar, president of AMWJU Wangkhemcha Shamjai and Editor of Imphal Free Press Pradip Phanjoubam as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion PC Lamkunga said that to make Manipur a corruption free State India need to be a corruption free country first.
He further said, to curb corruption everyone need to be honest starting from their home, at the work place and wherever they go.
He asserted that the ruling Government only can never curb corruption without the help of the people.
He observed that corruption is not only about money laundering or bribery but covers other aspects such as individuals who work only for their selfish needs.
He also urged the employees of the Vigilance Department to work honestly at their best without fear.
AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai said that as of now, the power of State Vigilance Department is very weak.
He continued that as the Vigilance Department is kept under the State Home Department instead of keeping it as an autonomous body, the Department is unable to perform well and added that corruption can never be curbed unless the bureaucrats and Ministers stop acting for their gain only.
