Training on Development of Community Library through NSS starts

A three-day national level training programme on Development of Community Library through NSS being organized by NSS Cell of Manipur University in collaboration with Central Reference Library, Kolkata under Ministry of Culture began today at the Conference Hall of MIMS, MU.
The inaugural function was attended by Prof HNK Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of MU as chief guest; Prof E Bijoykumar, Dean, School of Social Sciences, MU as president and KK Deka, assistant editor and convener of Committee for Development of North East, CRL, Kolkata as guest of honor.
Delivering key note address, Prof Jagdish Chandra Binwal, former Dean, School of Economics of NEHU observed that 65 percent of the entire population of the country is comprised by youths aged between 16-35 years and asserted that National Service Scheme has been guiding youths in right direction which is necessary to bring collective growth in the country.
He conceded that NSS has been also playing a pivotal role in community development works including social work.
Maintaining that vast array of knowledgeable books are being kept at Community Library, he exhorted the people including school going children to make best uses of the library.
To mark the occasion, a book titled 'Changing Dimensions in Librarianship' authored by Prof JC Binwal was released by Prof HNK Sharma.
