Drugs worth Rs 4.5 Cr consigned to flames

Contraband drugs worth Rs 4.5 crore in the grey markets seized from different places of the State under different cases were consigned to flames at Kiyamgei Pal Ahanbi under Singjamei PS today morning.
The drugs were set ablaze under the supervision of a committee headed by DIG (Range-IV), Kh Chandramani and comprising officers of State Police and Narcotic Affairs and Border (NAB) .
Speaking to media persons at the disposal site, the Chairman of the Committee said that the drugs disposed off today related to 17 different cases filed at different police stations of the State during the period 2012-13 .
The process of destroying the contraband drugs was taken up by the committee constituted by the State Government of which he is the chairman.

The other members included Husne Jamal, Additional SP (Imphal East) and S Gau-tam, SP (NAB), he said.
The drugs were set ablaze in the presence of Singjamei police team and media persons after obtaining due permission from the Magistrate concerned.
The drugs were seized from different parts of the State by police personnel of Imphal PS, Porompat PS, Lilong PS, Sekmai PS and the NAB, he said.
He further said that the drugs weighed 44.014 kilograms.
The drugs included 47,852 strips of Actiman Tablets, 10,341 strips of PETA-TR tablets, 41,043 strips of Actifeel tablets, 91,354 strips of Respifed tablets, 63,411 Strips of Actisun tablets, 50,392 strips of Robocoff tablets, 29,909 strips of Mucoson tablets, 56,386 strips of CU-Kuf Tablets, 2,19,976 number of Profed tablets, 12,800 numbers of Nitrosun (N)10 tablets and 2,26,787 number of tablets and 3298 strips of Spasmo Proxivon (SP) capsule, he said.
The chairman also said that the value of the destroyed contraband drugs is around Rs 4.5 crore in the grey market.
