Imphal, November 03 2014:
The Television & Cine Foundation (TC Foundation) Manipur will organize a Film Convention deliberate on pursuance for establishing the premier Film & Television Institute in Manipur on November 9 at the MFDC complex from 11: 30 am onwards, said a release of TC Foundation.
The decision to hold the Convention with its single agenda as "Establish National Film & Television Institute in Manipur" was adopted in an emergency executive meeting of the Television & Cine Foundation, attended by Manipur's eminent Filmmakers, Film Critics, Senior Film Actors and technicians alongside TC Foundation's Chief Advisors, Shri Aribam Syam Sharma and Shri RK Bidur.
The meeting unanimously decided that the Convention is critical, to make the Government of India take a judicious decision, based on merits, while deciding which state will be awarded the 3rd National Film & Television Institute and not to yield to political pressures exerted by the states to grab the premier institute in their favour.
Out the 8 states in the region, the race is between Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
Through the Convention, TC Foundation hopes to mobilize the state's film fraternity, intellectuals, Art & Culture personalities along with concerned Government officials to impress the Government of India that Manipur is the most deserving state for the proposed premier Institute, considering it's rich heritage of art & culture, dance, theatre, literature and critical, national and international achievements in cinematic expression, both in features and non-features, becoming the benchmark for the Northeast Region.
