After 5-year lull, MUSU election fixed on Nov 12

Imphal, November 03 2014:
After it was dissolved way back in 2009, election of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) to elect its new office bearers has been scheduled to be held on
November 12 .
Notably, necessary arrangement for holding the much-talked election was made by the university authority following assurance given by President of India, Pranab Mukherjee during his visit to the university that the union will be revived again starting from the 2014-15 academic session.
According to a notification issued by Prof N Joykumar, Returning Officer of MUSU Election 2014-15, the election will begin at 10 am and will continue up to 1 pm of November 12 .
Prof Joykumar, Department of History, MU had already served as the Dean of Students' Welfare during the period of 1989 to 1992 .
The last date for filing nomination paper for contesting the election is November 6 evening 4 pm while scrutiny will be conducted on November 7 at 11 am.
Whereas the last date for withdrawal of nomination paper is November 10 up to 4.30 pm.
Altogether four Observers of the election have been already appointed.
They are Prof GP Prasad, Commerce Department; Dr I Gambhir, Associate Professor, English Department; Dr T Inaobi, Associate Professor, Physical Education & Sports Science Department and Dr Rolkhumjo, Political Science Department.
To ensure that the election is held in free and fair manner, a Grievance Cell has been also formed with Prof RK Hemkumar, Dean of Students' Welfare as its Chairman.
Members of the cell are Prof Th Purnima, Library & Information Science Department; A Narayan, System Engineer of the university; M Bidyarani, third semester student, English Department and Palmei Adim Kabui, fourth year student, Physical Education & Sports Science Department.
