Fifth 57 Mountain Division Polo Tournament

Imphal, November 03 2014:
The prestigious fifth 57 Mountain Division Polo tournament was inaugurated with an impressive opening ceremony at Mapal Kangjeibung (Imphal Polo Ground) today.
Eleven Polo teams will be contesting for top honours in the event.
Major General P M Bali, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion Shri L Bedamani Singh of Manipur Horse Riding and Polo association complimented the General Officer Commanding Red Shield Division and the Indian Army for supporting and promoting the traditional sporting culture of Manipur.
Major General P M Bali, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division wished all the participating teams the very best for their matches and mentioned that competition addresses a basic human desire to stretch ourselves to the limit of our potential.
He also mentioned that encouraging young people to broaden the horizons of their ambition is vital and competitive sport should play a major role in making that happen.
Assuring People of the State of the continued support from the Army for promotion of traditional sports, he declared the fifth 57 Mountain Division Polo tournament 2014 open.
