Rs 2,65,56,760 collected as fine till date in State for violating Covid guidelines

With thirty-nine Covid violators detained today by the State Police Department, the cumulative Covid violators detained stands at 1,60,241 (one lakh sixty thousand two hundred and forty one) .
As per a press note issued by E Priyokumar Singh, Inspector General of Police (Ops) who is also the Nodal Officer (COVID-19) for Manipur Police, district-wise break-up of these figures in terms of cumulative violators detained sees Thoubal in first place with 73,694 (Seventy three thousand six hundred and ninety four) Imphal West in second with 30,126 (Thirty thousand one hundred and twenty six) and Bishnupur in third place with 25,190 (Twenty five thousand one hundred and ninety) violators detained.
So far the cumulative fine imposed is Rs 2,65,56,760 (Two crore sixty five lakhs fifty six thousand seven hundred and sixty rupees) while the cumulative vehicles detained stands at 51,850 (Fifty one thousand eight hundred and fifty) .
Thoubal district tops in terms of fine imposed with Rs 71,12,990 (Seventy one lakhs twelve thousand nine hundred and ninety rupees) followed by Imphal West district with Rs 63,68,450 (Sixty three lakhs sixty eight thousand four hundred and fifty rupees) and Bishnupur at the third with Rs 51,03,590 (Fifty one lakhs three thousand five hundred and ninety rupees) .
Thoubal district also placed first in terms of cumulative vehicles detained with 17,379 (seventeen thousand three hundred and seventy nine); Imphal West in second with 8,607 (eight thousand six hundred and seven) and Bishnupur placed third with 8,521 (eight thousand five hundred and twenty one) vehicles detained.
On a good note, Pherzawl district has no records of Covid violators or vehicles nor imposition of fines.
It may be noted that the Police Department also collected a sum of Rs 3,900 (Three thousand and nine hundred only rupees) as per law from the 39 violators who were detained today and were released later after warning.
In a bid to prevent the further spread of Coronavirus in the State, the Police Department has been continuously cracking down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places etc.
The Police Department has also warned of strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws against those who violate the Covid guidelines and restrictions, added the press note.
