Imphal, March 05 2022:
The Kuki National Organisation (KNO) has refuted the Congress Party's allegation that BJP paid over Rs 16 crore to Kuki militant groups under SoO pact as baseless.
The Congress Party which signed Suspension of Operations with Kukis in 2008 were indecisive and never took interest in resolving the Kuki issue through political dialogue, according to a press release issued by KNO Information and Publicity Joint Secretary Stephen Kuki.
It said that the Kuki demand for Manipur Autono- mous Hill Territorial Council (MAHTC) is a settlement not only within the framework of the Constitution but also within the State of Manipur.
It claimed that the demand is a solid foundation to preserve the territorial integrity of Manipur which the people of the State strongly desire.
The BJP Government started political dialogue with SoO groups in 2016 and now Congress Party is regretting their lost opportunity.
This however ought not make the Congress stoop to levels unbecoming of a National party and engage in diatribe against the Kuki people, the KNO asserted.
It then urged the Congress party to withdraw their allegations as soon as possible to restore trust and confidence among citizens of the country, irrespective of political affiliations.
