Authority urged to probe Wangjing firing case

Retired BDO Haobam Rajen of Wangjing Wangkhei Leikai has urged authority concerned to look into the incident of firing at his residential complex and damage caused to household properties on Friday midnight.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Rajen informed that some people suspected to be BJP workers threatened Congress workers at Wangjing Wangkhei on Friday midnight and fired several rounds towards his house apart from destroying several household properties.
According to Rajen, he retired as BDO in 2019 and joined Congress party to do something good for the society and has been working wholeheartedly for the party since then.
However, in the wee hours of Saturday, some unknown people suspected to be BJP workers threatened that Congress supporters cannot come out to vote on Saturday.
The attackers then torched one i10 car and one Maruti 800 car parked at his residential complex and hred several rounds towards the house.
A fire brigade team from Yairipok rescued the entire family members who were hiding inside the house, he said, adding that his family members have been unable to enter the house due to fear and are taking shelter at relatives' places.
A complaint in this regard has been filed, he said and urged authority concerned to look into the matter seriously and allow all his family members to stay safely at home.
