Village chairman assaulted, womenfolk condemn

Chairman of Khunbi Tuisen (Khunbi Khunou) Charanga Yaima (56) s/o (L) Ch Modar was allegedly assaulted after abduction from his house by suspected supporters of NPF candidate in Tengnoupal AC on Thursday evening.
The chairman was later found seriously wounded and abandoned.
Condemning the incident, village womenfolk staged protest by blocking the Pallel-Machi road on Friday.
A woman protestor told newspersons that Charanga Yaima was left for dead at the village waiting shed after he was taken from his home by the unknown persons.
She lamented asserted that road block will not be lifted until those involved in the assault have been booked.
On the other hand, an election camp of INC candidate W Morung Makunga set up at Khuninglung village was vandalised by miscreants believed to be supporters of NPF candidate on Thursday around 8:30 pm.
The miscreants also pelted stones and used slingshots damaging windows of houses in the surrounding area while several residents suffered injuries from the attack.
