DM Kangpokpi imposes restrictions

Kangpokpi, March 05 2022:
The District Magistrate of Kangpokpi, Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, in exercise of powers conferred under Sub-section 2 of Section 144 of CrPC 1973 has imposed restrictions in and around 500 metres of DC Complex, Kangpokpi from March 6 till completion of counting of votes.
In a release, the DM informed that the prohibition was issued in connection with the prevalent volatile situation of Kangpokpi District from security point of view to prevent breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity.
The order prohibited assembly of 5 or more persons; carrying of firearms, sticks, stones, weapons or objects of any description which can be used as offensive weapons; carrying of licensed arms and ammunition; and opening of markets/shops located at Kangpokpi District Headquarters from 7am till 6pm on March 10, 2022 .
It also informed that the order shall not apply to the Government agencies or functionaries involved in the enforcement of law and order, health services and those involved in conduct of election.
Moreover, the District Election Officer Kangpokpi has also notified the contesting candidates/ their agents, counting agents, representatives of political parties functioning in Kangpokpi district and the public that the counting of votes where electronic voting machines were used and counting of postal ballot papers and electronically transmitted postal ballots in respect of the 3 Assembly Constituencies of Kangpokpi district namely 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi and 54-Saitu (ST) AC will take place on March 10 at Security Barrack, DC Office Complex, Kangpokpi.
