Bishnupur, December 24 2022: The 2-days long "Festival of Moirang Shai 2022" jointly organised by Moirang Thangjing Yageirel Marup, Moirang College, Kumbi College and Khamba Thoibi Dance Academy, Moirang concluded today at INA Martyr's Memorial Hall in Moirang.

It was attended by Moirang AC MLA, Thongam Shanti; Thanjing Yageirel Marup Moirang president, M Nokia Ngangoicha; K Nabachandra Singh, retired Additional Director, Higher Education, Government Of Manipur and A Sharatchandra Sharma, retired Principal Moirang College as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Thongam Shanti stressed on the importance of preserving the aged old traditions and cultures of the State.

In regard to Moirang Kangleirol, the MLA shared that out of the 9 Keithels mentioned in the Moirang Kangleirol, foundation stones have been laid for 7 Keithels.

He also announced that steps will be taken to re-construct the "Moirang Konung" located at Moirang Kangla.

As part of the event, prizes were distributed to the winners of the painting competition conducted on the theme, "Loikum Loika" and recitation competition conducted on "Moirang Kangleirol" and Moirang Shai competition.

Winners of competitions in order of merit are- Painting: Nongmaithem Korounganba of Heritage Convent Naoremthong, Birkumar Lourembam of Comprehensive School Oinam and Maheiroi Sunaina Saikhom of KVS No.1 Lamphelpat.

Moirang Shai: Leisemba Senjam, Khomdram Roshi and Pukhrambam Bidyaluxmi.

Students of Diligent Public School Moirang won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the recitation competition.
