Chandel, October 30 2026:
The Naga Village Chiefs/Headmen Federation South (NVCHFS) has endorsed United Naga Council (UNC) call to support COCOMI's proposed mass rally, scheduled for October 31 in Imphal.
During its first assembly cum seminar held in Chandel on Thursday, the chiefs' federation deliberated on pressing political and social issues affecting Manipur, and resolved to endorse UNC's call to support the October 31 rally and organise rallies across districts.
In line with UNC and COCOMI demands, the chiefs' federation also called for the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact with Kuki militant groups, and demanded an end to what it described as a proxy war in Manipur.
The federation urged the Government to put in sincere efforts to restore lasting peace, security, and stability in the State.
The federation also called for the removal of the Assam Rifles from the border areas and their replacement with the Border Security Force (BSF) .
It further endorsed "the declaration on the sacredness and significance of Naga village institutions made by Th Muivah, Ato Kilonser of the GPRN, on June 29, 2026" .
The federation reaffirmed Naga village chiefs as the supreme guardians of the ancestral land, traditional heritage, customary laws, and natural resources.
