Imphal, December 24 2022:
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids in different parts of the state in connection with certificate fudge case of Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) since Friday.
Reliable sources said that any doctor, who completed medical education in any foreign country, requires FMGE certificate for practicing in India.
However, there are gangs, who sell fake certificates to such medical graduates so that they could bypass the actual examination for practicing in the country, which not only compromises the health sector but also poses a threat to the lives of patients.
Saturday's raids were part of a CBI investigation initiated by CBI headquarters, New Delhi, sources said.
Since Friday, sleuths of CBI Imphal branch conducted raids at the houses of over 10 medical graduates, who completed medical education in foreign countries and collected FMGE certificates.
Verification of the certificates is underway, sources added.
