Imphal, December 24 2022:
Urging officials concerned against allowing the ongoing attempt to conduct the election of Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicraft Artisans' Cooperative Society Limited in defiance of all norms, the Society has threatened to launch intense agitations if the election is conducted.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Soibam Leikai on Saturday, board director of the Society Ph Indira Devi informed that the term of the board members will end on January 2, 2023 .
Before the end of the term, a general body meeting of the apex body should be convened by the chairman of the 7-member board following which new board members have to be elected.
However, defying all these norms, attempts are being made to conduct the election under the leadership of A Renuka Devi, who is the president of the apex body, without informing anything to the existing board members of which she (Indira) is the chairperson, which is very unfortunate.
Therefore, all the steps to conduct election of the board directors of the apex body should be stopped immediately, Indira said while appealing to the chief minister to intervene and do justice in the interest of public.
