AR seizes brown sugar worth Rs 4.40 cr

Imphal, December 24 2022:
Moreh Battalion of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) reportedly foiled cross border smuggling of narcotics at T'Minou, Moreh on Saturday and seized brown sugar worth Rs 4.50 crore.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), based on specific input regarding movement of drug smugglers along with drugs, a mobile vehicle check post was established by a team of Moreh Battalion in General Area T'Minou.
The team intercepted a Gypsy vehicle without a number plate and a Scooty moving from Moreh towards T'Minou.
On detailed search of the suspected vehicle, four drug smugglers along with 50 soap cases of Brown Sugar were recovered, weighing approximately 2.150 kilograms.
The cost of seized Brown Sugar is Rs 4.30 crore in the international Market.
The apprehended individuals along with recovered items were handed over to Moreh Police Station for further investigation, it added.
