N Rajningthou Memorial Trophy : Bowlers shine in huge wins for SHADOW, SCCC

Imphal, October 31 2023: SHADOW-Thangmeiband Kabrambam Leikai and SCCC-Singjamei Thongam Leikai secured convincing Group B victories today in the N Rajningthou Memorial Trophy thanks to bowlers.

SHADOW sealed the fourth win in 7 matches today by bowling out PTRC for a paltry total of 74 runs within 20.1 overs courtesy a fifer enjoyed by James at Lairenjam Public Ground and eased to the winning 76 in 18.3 overs with 7 wickets left to spare as S Lanchenba hit an unbeaten 37 off 49 deliveries.

Robinson (17), James (18) and Jackson (16*) were only double digit run getters for PTRC today after being put in to bat first as James (5/23 in 7 overs) and S Lanchenba (2/22 in 6.1 overs) of SHADOW wreaked havoc.

Goshan and Devraj of SHADOW also picked up a wicket each to help set up the PTRC batting collapse.

In the chase, SHADOW batters took on PTRC bowlers with ease and rode on Maverick (19) and S Lanchenba (37*) to seal the victory.

James, Richie and Henba of PTRC picked a wicket each in the SHADOW's innings.

James of SHADOW was adjudged man of the match.

Elsewhere at Kongba Dhobi Lampak, RULE-Meitram Makha Leikai ended their campaign winless as they went down by 66 runs to SCCC who were winless in the previous 6 matches in a clash of bowlers.

Put in to bat first, SCCC ended up adding 91 runs for all wickets down in 20.1 overs as Denin (6/32 in 6 overs) and Indrakumar (3/7 in 3.1 overs) of RULE were unstoppable in their bowling.

RULE batters were however bowled out for 25 runs in 11.1 overs of the chase as none of them could get past 4 runs and 6 of them were removed on ducks.

It was Taibanganba of SCCC who gave RULE batters a nightmarish outing as he removed 6 wickets by conceding just 6 runs in 5.2 overs which include 2 maidens.

Borish also assisted Taibanganba by removing 3 wickets for 15 runs in 5 overs.

Taibanganba of SCCC was adjudged man of the match.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public ground, PCC-Mayaikoibi sealed their second Group A victory by beating Al-Ameen by 33 runs.

Lucky Thokchom hit a 62-ball 65 and Pravin Kumar added significant 44 as PCC tallied 183 rus for 8 wickets after electing to bat first and restricted Al-Ameen to 150 all out in 30 overs for the big win thanks to impeccable bowling performances from Ajay Kumar (3/27), Pravin Kumar (3/32) and Prashanta (2/25) .

Al-Ameen's Umar (3/27) and Ruhal (3/33) shared 6 wickets among them in PCC's innings before Amir Malik scored a 90-ball 79 in a lost cause.

Pravin Kumar who produced an allround performance was adjudged man of the match.

In another Group A encounter staged at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College playground, PTCC beat Model Club by 5 wickets for the third win in 7 matches.

Opting to bat first, Model were bundled out for 93 runs in 19.3 overs as Nikhil (3/15 in 3.3 overs) and Devas (2/16) of PTCC led the bowling attack before Direndra Kishore 29 and Nikhil 30 guided PTCC to winning 94 in 20.4 overs at the cost of 4 overs.

N Bishal (2/32) and Biyon Naorem (2/21) of Model Club picked up a wicket apiece in PTCC's innings.

Ch Nikhil of PTCC who added 30 runs and picked 3 wickets was adjudged man of the match.
