CM Biren joins condemnation chorus

Many, including chief minister N Biren, condemned the killing of Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anand by Kuki militants on Tuesday.
Condemning the attack, N Biren said on the X, "Deeply saddened by the cold-blooded killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand, OC Moreh Police this morning.
His dedication to serve and protect the people will always be remembered.
The perpetrators will be brought to justice" .
In separate releases, Manipur State Council Communist Party of India, Langol Lukhoi Thang-Ta Sindam Shang, Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union and Keishamthong MLA Nishikant Sapam denounced the killing of Anand, who was on duty, making preparation for setting up a Helipad at the ground of Eastern Shine School, Moreh.
They urged the government to take up necessary initiatives for ensuring state forces to work efficiently.
Hoping that state government and the state police will arrest the killer(s) at the earliest and befitting punishment given, they also shared pain and grief of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
While strongly condemning the killing of SDPO Anand, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has accused the government of failing to protect people's life and property, rendering Manipur into a lawless state.
Speaking to newspersons at Congress Bhawan, here, on Tuesday, MPCC president K Meghachandra condemned the killing of SDPO Anand by armed Kuki terrorists in Moreh and extended party's deepest condolences over the loss of a brave police officer who had been working to defend the territorial integrity of Manipur.
He also accused the double-engine BJP government of failing to resolve the six-month long conflict and restore peace in the state while questioned how long the government will watch the state turn into a killing field.
People displaced from Moreh, who are staying in the relief camps at Lamding Higher Secondary School and Wangjing Kodompokpi sports complex, also protested the killing of SDPO Anand.
Speaking on the sidelines of an impromptu protest demonstration, the inmates expressed dissatisfaction over the Manipur government, stating that non-deployment of additional forces into Moreh emboldened the armed Kukis to attack the police.
They further questioned the need and silence of central forces in the border town in light of the attack.
Meanwhile, displaced people from Moreh and Churachandpur, who are staying in the relief camp set up at Ideal Girls' College, Akampat took out a rally on Tuesday noon, condemning the killing of Anand Kumar.
The inmates attempted to take out the rally towards the CM's Bungalow but were intercepted by police at Moirangkhom.
They then returned to the relief camp after shouting slogans at Moirangkhom.
However, volunteers of Youth of Manipur (YOM) squatted in front of the CM'S Bungalow in protest on Tuesday evening, demanding the chief minister to make stand clear on the killing of SDPO Ch Anand by Kuki narco-terrorists at Moreh.
After learning about the incident.
YOM volunteers gathered at Singjamei Sapam Leikai and went to the residence of SDPO Anand at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel, where they shared the grief of the bereaved family.
The volunteers then moved towards Kwakeithel before arriving at the CM's Bungalow and sat down in front of the Bungalow till late evening, demanding to meet the CM and urge him to make his stand (statement) clear regarding the killing of Anand.
After the police intervened, they moved and squatted in front of Imphal PS in protest, refusing to budge from the location until the CM gives a statement.
Protesting the killing of SDPO Anand-kumar and attack on police reinforcement along Imphal-Moreh road by Kuki militants, a large number of people took out a torch rally at Kakching Khunou on Tuesday evening.
The torch rally was jointly organised by All Kakching Khunou Meira Paibee Welfare Association and All Kakching Khunou Monitoring Committee.
Delhi Manipuri Society also condemned the killing of SDPO Anand.
