JAC demands chargesheet

The JAC formed in connection with the Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai firing has urged the police to submit the charge sheet of the October 14 incident to convict all the accused as early as possible.
They also urged the Government to extend assistance in the treatment of RK Medhapati and Nongmaithem Priyananda who sustained serious bullet wounds in the incident.
Speaking to the media at Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai Community Hall today, JAC convenor Chongtham Iboyaima said that five civilians of the locality including one woman were injured in the firing.
He thanked the Government for arresting six persons including the main accused of the case Manorharmayum Barish Sharma and sending them to jail.
Iboyaima urged the police to submit the forensic report before the Court so as to convict all those involved in the firing expeditiously.
Saying that the Government hasn't provided any assistance to the injured people till now, Iboyaima continued that it is only Keishamthong AC MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam who provided cash assistance to the injured for their treatment.
Three from among the five injured have been discharged but RK Medhapati and N Priyananda, however, are still undergoing treatment at JNIMS as their injuries are serious, the JAC convenor informed.
