Kakching protests arrest of Langsai Thouna members

Locals of Kakching on Saturday took to the streets and protested the arrest of three members of Langsai Thouna including its convener by Kakching police on Friday for organising a bike rally demanding conduct of the Lok Sabha election only after resolution of crisis in the state.
Langsai Thouna convener Kshetrimayum Rajiv (48), son of Ksh Chaoba of Kakching Moirangthem Leikai, members Naorem Priyobarta (36) son of N Purnima of Kakching Wairi Sabal Leikai and Naorem Jotish (30) son of N Nabakesho of Kakching Chumnang Leikai were arrested by police midway in the rally.
According to sources, the organisation organised a 'Silent Bike Rally' from Thoubal Haokha in Thoubal district to Wangoo in Kakching district, before the police halted the rally at Langmeidong.
When the protesters were returning, a team of police arrested three members of the organisation from a spot in between Kakching and Tejpur.
Protesting the arrest of the trio Langsai Thouna members, locals of Kakching shut shops at Kakching Bazaar and blocked the roads.
Large numbers of women protesters also stormed Kakching police station and demanded release of the trio arrested Langsai Thouna members.
The trio was granted bail at around 2 pm Saturday after they were produced before CJM court through video conferencing.
